Senior Financial Accountant

The Financial Accounting Services unit is responsible for all activities relating to QPS statutory financial reporting, general ledger, asset accounting and corporate taxation.
This includes the annual financial statements and the coordination of the related year end process, asset accounting annual programs, Queensland Audit Office audits and Chief Financial Officer Assurance Statements, month end process including centralised journals and reconciliations. The unit also works to ensure efficient and timely delivery of Fringe Benefit Tax and Business Activity Statement reporting.

Your Key Accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
• Effectively perform financial accounting and reporting functions within a team environment including month end reporting processes, general ledger maintenance and monthly external reporting.
• Provide accounting expertise to contribute effectively to the preparation and completion of the annual financial statements.
• Provide expertise and advice to contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of financial accounting policies, procedures, systems and reporting.
• Research and provide quality advice and reports on financial reporting requirements and accounting issues to management.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships and networks with internal and external partners.
• Work effectively in a professional work environment that encourages teamwork whilst empowering individuals to strive for continuous improvement, seek challenges, develop skills and achieve results.
Role Requirements
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience
• Tertiary and post graduate qualifications in accounting or related disciplines would be highly regarded.
