In Youth Justice you will have the opportunity to work together with people, partners and across places to enable young Queenslanders, especially the most vulnerable, to have positive life choices and opportunities.

You will help achieve this vision through developing and delivering initiatives, programs and interventions to:

  • Increase community safety and reduce rates of youth offending
  • Improve wellbeing of children and young people in and transitioning from youth justice
  • Reduce the disproportionate representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in the youth justice system.

Key responsibilities

As the Business Support Officer, you will specifically:

  • Provide advice and assistance to Centre staff to ensure compliance in the provision of services to the centre encompassing finance, administration and record keeping
  • Develop and manage systems and processes to support reporting on assets, finance, and other administrative issues for the Remand Centre
  • Implement and maintain governance frameworks to ensure compliance with public sector legislation, standards, policies, practices, and procedures relating to financial and administrative functions to ensure integrity and compliance
  • Develop and implement procedures and systems; providing authoritative advice to address centre issues to meet financial obligations and enable effective service delivery
  • Develop, manage and maintain effective relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to balance competing priorities, gain support and increase commitment to service delivery excellence
  • Participate as an effective member of centre's management team in the development, promotion and implementation of the Departments strategic direction, and the centre's operational plans
  • Assist the Manager Business Support Services with the financial forecasting
  • Provide financial analysis to the Youth Remand Centre management
  • Support the financial decision and budget process
  • Prepare and present reports for management and the executive team
  • Assist with the management of Fixed Assets.
