Youth Justice provides early intervention, statutory Youth Justice and detention services to ensure that young people are held accountable for their offending behaviour. We help support them to become responsible members of the community.

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a progressive and dynamic service centre in the heart of Cairns Region, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and some of the most beautiful crater lakes and rainforest habitat in Australia. Working in a multidisciplinary team, your role is one of support, guidance, and supervision. You will be required to be flexible, adaptable, and meet emerging needs as they arise.

The Administration Officer key responsibilities are:
• Provide timely, high-quality advice and administrative support to all Youth Justice work groups in relation to financial, travel management, human and physical resources and activities.
• Provide administrative coordination and support in relation to Youth Justice activities, including record keeping, planning forums, program development, management activities and quality reports and correspondence.
• Maintain effective administrative systems in Youth Justice, including systems relating to asset management, financial, human resource, performance reporting and business processes.
• Liaise with internal and external clients and stakeholders in relation to inquiries relevant to Youth Justice Services.
• Allocate, prioritise, and perform tasks in accordance with departmental procedures and financial and administrative delegations.
• Contribute to effective teamwork by developing an understanding of the roles and duties of other team members and working collaboratively to deliver support and services to clients.
• Implement, maintain and review administrative policies and procedures, including but not limited to, travel and accommodation arrangements, record keeping and management, building, vehicle and plant and equipment maintenance to facilitate the effective functions of the team.
• Participate productively and collaboratively as a member of a team in delivering support and services to clients for all directorates within the Youth Justice.
• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
