As our Director, Internal Audit you will:
• Lead the internal audit (IA) function for the department through appointment as Head of Internal Audit and by managing co-sourcing arrangements, the annual IA workplan, IA Charter and quality control of IA reports and recommendations.
• Provide assurance and enhanced accountability through delivery of internal audits that reduce risk and improve control and compliance frameworks.
• Build a culture that embraces IA and risk management to ensure a proactive continuous improvement approach to the effective management of the department.
• Lead the preparation of complex and sophisticated reports, submissions, briefings and correspondence to senior management in response to departmental and whole of government matters relating to IA.
Qualifications:
• A mandatory qualification aligned to the Financial Accountability Regulation 2019 (as per below).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• The ability to manage multiple complex programs of work.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and maintain high performing teams.
• A qualification as a professional member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Australia; or a qualification as—
• a certified practising accountant conferred by CPA Australia Ltd; or
• a chartered accountant conferred by Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand; or
• a member of the Institute of Public Accountants Ltd who is entitled to use the letters ‘MIPA' or ‘FIPA'; or
• a qualification from an overseas accounting body that is recognised by at least 2 of the entities mentioned in paragraph (a) or (b) as equivalent to a qualification mentioned in those paragraphs
