Senior Claims Inspector

Play a key role in supporting Queensland’s building sector by contributing to the Claims Approval and Rectification Delivery teams at QBCC. This position is responsible for resolving technical building matters that arise during the assessment and delivery of rectification works. You will provide expert guidance on complex complaints involving scopes of work, technical enquiries, and building rectification issues. Your work will help maintain strong relationships between QBCC and Service Providers by offering technical support throughout the claims process. You'll also support effective communication and resolution of disputes between homeowners and rectifying builders where concerns arise in relation to approved rectification works. This position is based in Brisbane and flexible arrangements can be considered upon application, including working remotely at a Regional QBCC office subject to availability.
If working from a regional office, travel to the Brisbane office base will be required regularly (frequency to be negotiated with successful candidate) to fulfil project service delivery and operational business needs and may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation.
Other intrastate travel may be required for this position and may include time away from the candidates homebase.
Key Outcomes and Accountabilities
- Assist in the program of work to ensure the claims handling performance targets set by the Insurance Committee are achieved.
- Review and provide high level technical advice regarding technical reports relating to claims under the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme.
- Review and approve scopes of work and variations for claims under the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme.

Candidate Attributes
The ideal candidate will:
- Currently hold a builders licence from QBCC in Queensland (mandatory).
- Possess a Current Driver's Licence (Motor Vehicle) and have a good driving record (mandatory)
- Achieves results by providing high level guidance on the application of legislation, policies and procedures and building organisational capability and responsiveness.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and communicate with the team to deliver consistencies on approach to claims processes.
- Apply contemporary building standards, practices, legislation and codes within the construction industry, including demonstrated ability to supervise the performance of all building work.
- High level interpersonal, consultative, negotiation and mediation skills as well as investigative, analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to manage cases particularly related to a highly technical environment.
Desirable
- Whilst not mandatory, previous claim experience in the building and construction and insurance industries would be highly regarded.
