Senior Wellbeing Officer

The Senior Wellbeing Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the safety and wellbeing of Youth Co-Responder Teams (YCRT) staff across the State. As a Senior Wellbeing Officer, you will work closely with the Youth Justice Co-Responder leadership teams within the regions to promote workplace health, wellbeing, and resilience within a dynamic operational environment. As a Senior Wellbeing Officer, you will be responsible for implementing wellbeing programs tailored to the unique challenges faced by Youth Justice staff within YCRT. These programs may include stress and self-care management, resilience-building, and referral to community providers to support staff to seek help when needed.

Key responsibilities
As a Senior Wellbeing Officer, you will specifically:
• Lead the provision of professional advice and support to Youth Co-Responder staff, including but not limited to critical wellbeing promotion, early intervention strategies and incident stress debriefing as required.
• Provide expert and evidence-based advice and support leadership teams on organizational health, wellbeing, and resilience initiatives. Lead and/or coordinate initiatives with a range of stakeholders as required.
• Lead the development, review, implementation, and delivery of staff training programs, initiatives and resources that promote health, wellbeing and resilience that are tailored to the Youth Justice service delivery context.
• Supporting managers and supervisors to develop leadership and supervision skills that support health, wellbeing and resilience within their workgroups.
• Provide expert and evidence-based advice on a range of workforce development and business objectives as required by the regional staff including Youth Co-Responder management teams.
• Provide input into reviews of relevant policies, procedures and strategies as required.
• Manage conflicts of interest as per relevant departmental policies and processes.
• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Role specific/technical skills preferred:
• Knowledge of workforce health and wellbeing needs and issues relevant to Youth Justice or similar operational environments.
• Applicants must possess a tertiary qualification in either psychology, social work, behavioral science or other relevant human services qualification.
This position is available in Cairns or Townsville (with a requirement for travel), please indicate your location preference for this role on your application.
