The Executive Manager, Business Continuity and Risk Management provides strategic leadership in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks within the Emergency Management Unit to ensure resilience and operational continuity.
The role is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the business continuity framework at both state and regional levels, ensuring compliance strategies to safeguard critical services. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, the position ensures a proactive approach to risk governance, disaster/crisis response, and organisational preparedness.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:
- Demonstrated understanding, or the ability to rapidly acquire a thorough understanding of the structure, roles, functions, and services of the QAS and the Department of Health.
- Demonstrated high level experience in, and understanding of, contemporary risk management practices including the ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy, and procedures.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills to guide and develop innovative strategies for managing risk and resolving issues.
- Demonstrated high level experience and the proven ability to implement effective governance processes that adhere to organisational policies and system requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically to resolve issues, inform decision making, and identify implement, and improve activities associated to risk.
- Highly developed leadership skills with demonstrated capabilities and experience in managing diverse, multidisciplinary teams in an environment of competing priorities and needs with limited resources.
- Demonstrated highly developed written communication skills with the ability to prepare complex reports and submissions in accordance with departmental style guide requirements.
The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:
- The incumbent may be required to travel on official business and the possession of a C class driver's licence may be required.
- Whilst not mandatory tertiary qualification/s in emergency and disaster management, risk management, or another related disciplines will be highly regarded.
- Position may require participation in shift work (including weekends and public holidays), on-call duties and undertake overtime.
