Exciting opportunities exist for experienced finance candidates to join our team in two long term temporary positions.
As the Principal Finance Officer your role will have a strong management accounting focus with duties including: developing and cash-flowing annual operating and capital budgets; preparation of monthly financial performance reports including forecasting insights and variance analysis; and providing expert financial management advice to stakeholders.

You will play a pivotal role in uplifting financial management capabilities across the QPS while supporting key frontline services and overseeing a Finance Officer AO5 position.
**There are two positions available , 1 X temp for 6 months and 1 X temp late June to March 2026**
Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Providing strategic and operational financial management services for QPS business areas, including preparation of financial performance results incorporating variance and trend analysis, and forecasting.
- Coordinate the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets for business areas incorporating government and organisational decisions to support the delivery of strategic planning and budgeting for the organisation.
- Research matters to prepare quality reports, submissions, correspondence, and briefing notes for management on financial management issues and impacts.
- Ensure financial management services and initiatives are implemented with strong and genuine engagement of internal and external clients and key stakeholders.
- Manage the ongoing development of staff through team leadership, mentoring and development and performance plans.
- Create a work environment encouraging teamwork whilst empowering individuals to strive for continuous business improvement initiatives, seek challenges, develop skills, and achieve results.
Role Requirements
Qualification
- Tertiary/post graduate qualifications in accounting or related disciplines would be highly regarded.
