Join the lean, dynamic Digital Innovations team within the Strategic Communication Branch as a Principal Systems Developer and play a pivotal role in shaping data and
user experience across DTET’s digital products.
Collaborating with clients in a high-velocity environment, you’ll champion usercentred design principles to create meaningful and accessible data and content management system solutions.
You’ll also build strong relationships with the team and stakeholders, ensuring code and digital assets align with strategic goals. You are driving the innovation and efficiency that plays a key role in ensuring the department’s key priorities and initiatives are communicated to all Queenslanders.

About the role
As the Principal Systems Developer, you will:
• Manage and improve the department's websites and platform to support business and operational needs.
• Provide expert technical advice and support to vendors, developers, and colleagues—including those with less experience—on how to plan, design, and deliver websites and related applications.
• Lead and guide the creation and review of plans, strategies, and standards for programming tools and methods that support the agency's long-term application service needs.
• Maintain and develop all essential documentation, including design documents, project quality plans, processes, and procedures.
• Liaise with product vendors and clients to identify and resolve complex application issues, as well as to recommend beneficial changes.
• Monitor recent industry developments and trends, including collaboration with external professional bodies and tertiary institutions, to facilitate the implementation of best practice information technology.
• Assume technical responsibility for all stages of the software development process and act as the point of escalation for application-related issues.

• Create and maintain modern websites by designing, building, and deploying them, using web platforms such as the Squiz Matrix/DXP platform.
• Collaborate with multiple Government departments, following whole-ofgovernment templates and standards to ensure consistency.
• Gather business requirements from clients and internal stakeholders to deliver effective websites and web tools.
• Apply strong front-end development skills, working with web standards, technologies, and APIs for seamless integration.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of web content accessibility guidelines and experience in developing websites that adhere to relevant standards.
• Apply a strong understanding of secure website development and information privacy principles, with experience in applying DevOps and ideally DevSecOps practices.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, analyse issues, and solve problems efficiently.
• Operate effectively within a large corporate environment.
