About the role
As a valued member of our Child and Family Services Division, you'll use your expertise to:
- Provide high-quality, trauma-informed crisis counselling, safety planning, and practical support to clients navigating domestic and family violence.
- Advocate for individuals and families, offering short-term assistance and connecting clients with life-changing community and government services.
- Collaborate with other professionals, including domestic violence workers, lawyers, and mental health professionals, to create holistic solutions for our clients.
- Contribute to projects, develop training programs, and support Legal Aid Queensland's policy development to drive systemic change across family law, domestic violence, and child protection services.

About you
We're looking for someone with the following capabilities:
- Expertise in Trauma-Informed Practice: You have experience in providing crisis counselling, advocacy, and support to people impacted by domestic and family violence.
- Understanding of Social Issues: You are familiar with the challenges affecting families and individuals experiencing domestic and family violence.
- Strong Communication Skills: You can communicate effectively with a diverse range of clients, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and represent our organisation with professionalism.
- Collaborative Approach: You can build and sustain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.
- Knowledge of Relevant Legislation: You understand legislation affecting families, including family law, domestic and family violence, child protection, and related areas.

- A 36.25 hour working week (full time hours)
