As an Infrastructure Technical Lead, you will be responsible for the department’s core ICT Infrastructure (located within the department’s data centres) and managing supply arrangements that enable the service. Managing the capacity, availability and risk of outages and facilitating multi-vendor triages for the Department of Justice.
You will be required to develop and mentor staff in the infrastructure team.

Your key responsibilities
- Capacity planning and coordination of the departmental server environments and hyper converged infrastructure.
- Establish systems for evaluating and monitoring ICT Infrastructure performance and capacity as well as planning for future requirements which may include natural evolution toward hybrid models of delivery.
- Ensure the provision of a high-quality information technology operational service in a secure client-driven environment through the development and maintenance of controls and procedures.
- Provide technical leadership and support for the team and encourage a team approach to achieve organisational goals including the provision of performance feedback.
- Ensure the provision and lifecycle management of the department's Managed Operating Environment (MOE) for corporate infrastructure, including patching and vulnerability management.
- Provide a high level of technical expertise and advice to achieve specified business outcomes for the department's information technology infrastructure and services
- Provide synopsis, trends, monthly reports and memorandum to management regarding new proposals, current activities, future directions and major changes to the department's ICT infrastructure.
- Liaise with product vendors and clients on communication and networking systems to provide problem identification and resolution.
- Manage vendor support arrangements ongoing (including but not limited to, data centres, network, infrastructure, services and specialist support).
- Oversee the establishment of processes for incident analysis, problem resolution management and change management for operational communications and infrastructure environments, including designing, documenting and recommending solutions where no preceding solution is available.
- Performs other essential duties and tasks specific to the position as would be reasonably required.
Technical skills, abilities, and cultural capability
- Knowledge and experience in Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI) technologies (the department utilises Nutanix).
- Experience in analysing highly complex technical issues, skilled in advanced troubleshooting in complex environments and developing proposed solutions.
- Knowledge and operational experience in Microsoft technologies, including MS Server, AoVPN, RDS/Windows365, DNS, DHCP, SCCM (Including MOE management of server environment), Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune and Autopilot).
- Knowledge of scripting technologies, virtual server environments, and certificate management.
- Experience managing workloads in an ITIL based support environment and ServiceNow.
- Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft 365 Defender.
- Sound knowledge of modern management technologies (co-management). Experience with integrations and migration paths from on-prem solutions to cloud solutions.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft End User Computing technologies, packaging technologies and Amazon Web Services.
- Experience leading a technical team supporting a Hybrid environment (on premise and Microsoft Azure).
