In the role of Correctional Manager, Offender Development you will:

  • Lead and monitor the delivery of centre-based assessment, rehabilitation, psychological, pastoral care and cultural services to prisoners.
  • Manage resources so that activities are consistent with the goals of an integrated offender management model and meet annual performance targets.
  • Ensure case management principles and processes are applied in all prisoner management areas, ensuring that all prisoners are subject to the appropriate dosage of case management consistent with their risks and needs.
  • Contribute to the dynamic security of the centre by being an integral member of the senior management team, who engages in broader centre safety and security activities such as cell inspections, duty manager function and advice to the operational workforce when required.
  • Ensure compliance with the Department's practices and procedures and where required facilitate implementation of new initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate mechanisms in relation to the achievement of statutory and professional obligations to meet reporting and ethical conduct requirements.
  • Ensure psychological services including suicide prevention activities are delivered in accordance with best practice and agency frameworks and procedures.
  • Oversight and engage in the delivery of training to staff espousing contemporary offender management of prisoners.
  • Oversee and coordinate stakeholder engagement including supporting delivery of services and program in correctional centres by other government agencies, external contractors and volunteers Ensure workloads and work practices of staff contribute to effectiveness of the centre and are consistent with the Department's human resources policies and procedures.
  • Supervise, motivate, encourage and coach staff in the performance of their duties and ensure training and professional development opportunities are provided.
  • Provide concise, informative and timely briefings to the Deputy General Manager and exchange of information between agencies to maximise the protection of the community in a timely manner.
  • Manage the protocols and procedures with relevant criminal justice agencies.
  • Promote strong multi-disciplinary teams within the correctional centre to ensure the delivery of quality offender management.
  • Work closely with Specialist Operations to ensure centre based offender management and rehabilitation activities align with agency and professional practice frameworks.
