QPS Internal Audit is a Service Provider to the QPS and the Inspector General Emergency Management (IGEM). As the Audit Manager, you will manage the activities of the Internal Audit Unit in order to contribute to the achievement of QPS and IGEM strategic objectives. You will build and foster strong working relationships across all levels of the Service. You will lead the in-house component of audit delivery.

QPS Internal Audit is a Service Provider to the QPS and the Inspector General Emergency Management (IGEM). You will manage the activities of the Internal Audit Unit in order to contribute to the achievement of QPS and IGEM strategic objectives. In addition to the in-house staff, you will work with and manage our co-sourced provider staff toward the delivery of the Annual Internal Audit Plan. You will bring high quality internal audit advice and experience on a range of matters through direct audit activity as well as overseeing multiple audit engagements.
Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Co-ordinate the development and maintenance of contemporary internal audit and consultancy practices.
- Undertake and provide leadership and set strategy for the conduct of complex audits and reviews across each Agencies operations and other functions.
- Raise the awareness of senior management regarding impacts across each Agency of significant business events, initiatives and associated risks which address key internal audit issues relevant to their area of responsibility.
- Provide strategic direction on policy and planning issues affecting the Agencies and advise senior management on matters relating to opportunities to improve organisational systems and processes.
- Actively promote the role of the internal audit function and ensure effective relationships are established and maintained with clients, government and non-government stakeholders and staff affected by the provision of internal audit services.
- Provide high level leadership, management, supervision, training and expert advice to other staff to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the work outputs.
Role Requirements
Mandatory
Applicant must have one of the following professional memberships:
- Professional member Institute of Internal Auditors; or
- Certified Practising Accountants Australia; or
- Chartered Accountant.
Qualification
- Qualifications from an overseas accounting body that are recognised by at least two of the above bodies as having equivalent membership.
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience
- Certified Internal Auditor or member of the Institute of Internal Auditors is considered highly desirable.
