Multicultural Affairs Queensland is responsible for leading the development and monitoring the implementation of the Queensland Government’s multicultural policies; providing advice on multicultural issues, facilitating partnerships, administering investment programs; and maintaining liaison with multicultural communities and promoting positive community relations across the whole community.
Multicultural Affairs Queensland operates in a team environment that values ethical professionalism, initiative, individual effort and responsibility, cooperation and communication with colleagues, participation in concept development, and knowledge and understanding of the broad range of issues and concepts encompassed within the framework of Multiculturalism.

What we are looking for…….
- Experience in leading team leaders and/or multiple projects or areas of work, typically under broad direction of a senior executive.
- Knowledge of, or ability to quickly acquire, Government processes and networks and financial and establishment management processes.
- Ability to lead program strategy and/or guide team leaders to deliver outcomes.
- Communication skills, both written and verbal, demonstrating experience in providing high level and complex advice to support decision-making by senior executives and government.
Your contribution and key responsibilities
- Provide leadership, including building coherency across work programs and engendering a shared commitment to the vison and principles of the Multicultural Recognition Act 2016.
- Manage business and resources to deliver on Government commitments and agreed outcomes.
- Oversee the design, implementation and evaluation of strategic policy, programs and initiatives that progress the Government's commitment to multiculturalism.
- Identify and facilitate strategic linkages and partnerships across the department, the three levels of government, community and business sectors to deliver positive outcomes for Queenslanders from diverse backgrounds.
- Represent the department at State and National forums and regularly engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to identify needs, issues and possible solutions to complex policy and program matters.
- Maintain a high-level of knowledge of current and emerging issues pertaining to multiculturalism and connected cohesive communities to provide strategic analysis and advice to senior executives and the Minister.
