About you
The ideal applicant will demonstrate capability in the following requirements:
- Practising experience that demonstrates some or all of the following:
- thorough knowledge or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge the Crime and Corruption Act 2001, the Criminal Code (Qld), the Police Service Administration Act, and other public sector governance legislation relevant to the operations of the CCC;
- depth of experience in a general in-house legal team or practicing experience in commercial or administrative law including advising about information access applications, privacy law, human rights law, judicial review and administrative decision making, employment law, procurement and/or contract law; and
- the ability to conduct civil, criminal or quasi-criminal litigation in Queensland and Australian courts and Tribunals, including QCAT.
- The ability to analyse complex legal and factual issues, to make high quality decisions and judgments and provide expert legal advice.
- High level verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare written advice, briefs, court documents and complex reports and correspondence within tight deadlines, the ability to work autonomously and co-operatively in an in-house legal team, and to liaise and consult effectively with other officers in the Commission and with external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated capacity to build and sustain positive and effective relationships with other team members, establishing priorities, developing sound solutions and participating in the development of improvements to work practices.
