People and Culture is a corporate area within the Department with a strategic focus on workforce planning, talent attraction and retention, safety and wellbeing, cultural capability and diversity, industrial stability and performance, governance, complaints management and organisational development.
The team is located in Brisbane, Queensland. The function of the Central Recruitment Team is to deliver centralised state-wide recruitment of Child Safety Officers (CSOs). CSOs are responsible for the delivery of statutory child protection services for Queensland.
The team delivers an operational recruitment service and implements strategic recruitment projects associated with the CSO workforce. The team’s primary clients are the managerial and executive staff of Child Safety Services.

As a Recruitment Advisor, in this role you will provide advice, specialising in the recruitment and selection of frontline child protection professionals. Within this scope you will deliver practical information and appropriate recruitment and selection methods including talent attraction, candidate assessment, guidance to tools available. You will also be required to contribute knowledge and skills to assist the team to implement strategic recruitment projects in a complex workforce.
The Advisor's key responsibilities are:
• Provide information on the over representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children as well as working with families and community.
• Provide advice and consulting services to hiring managers, and applicants relating to vacancy management and recruitment and selection for roles across the Department.
• Support central and regional recruitment activities including screening of candidate applications, connecting and follow up with candidates and ensuring high level candidate care.
• Build professional and productive working partnerships within a portfolio of internal and external stakeholders to facilitate quality service delivery, practice and outcomes.
• Liaise with other areas of People and Culture to contribute to initiatives that enable the growth of a diverse and culturally capable workforce.
• Prepare reports and other correspondence related to human resource matters and issues, and ensure accurate records are maintained.
• Maintain sound and current knowledge of human resource management practices, policy and procedures to ensure contemporary human resource solutions are delivered to clients.
• Contribute to the evaluation of services and the implementation of new initiatives from the Department's strategic and operational plans to ensure continuous improvement and implementation of quality human resource management to achieve organisational strategic goals.
• Participate as part of a cohesive high performing team in which all members' contributions are valued and encouraged.
