Manager - Executive Correspondence

Seeking highly motivated, organised and experienced Manager for the Cabinet and Executive Services team in the Strategy, Insights and Advisory Group within the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning. Under your leadership, you and your team will work with authors and leaders to improve writing styles and practices, provide training, and ensure that information is managed in a timely manner. In this role you will work with a high degree of independence and liaise extensively with a wide range of functional areas within the department, across other departments and with the Deputy Premier’s office. A comprehensive understanding of departmental activities and priorities or the ability to quickly gain this knowledge will be essential in this role.

The Strategy, Insights and Advisory (SIA) business group within DSDIP coordinates all key matters across the Deputy Premier's portfolio responsibilities and all touch points between the Deputy Premier's office and the department.
As the Manager - Executive Correspondence you will use your excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills to ensure that documents are engaging, clear and concise. You will work with a high degree of independence and liaise extensively with a wide range of functional areas within the department, across other departments and with the Deputy Premier's office.
Are you right for this role?
To be successful in this role you must demonstrate the following skills and experience:
• Provide authoritative and expert advice, training and support to departmental staff concerning the preparation of ministerial and executive correspondence, briefing notes, information papers, including associated processes, procedures, timelines and reporting requirements.
• Prepare, review, edit and quality assure, briefing notes, information papers, reports and correspondence on complex issues, key business priorities and operational issues including matters for discussion with the departmental executive, Deputy Premier and other departmental and government stakeholders.
• Identify, develop, and sustain productive stakeholder relationships across government to develop, implement and monitor the effectiveness of appropriate processes for managing the flow of briefing notes and correspondence between the department and Deputy Premier's Office.
• Align and manage the operations of the team to the department's and portfolio's strategic goals ensuring best practice through a continuous improvement focus.
• Maintain professional and effective working relationships within and between the Deputy Premier's Office and the department, and other government agencies.
• Liaise with Departmental Liaison Officers in other agencies as required to ensure comprehensive advice is provided in a timely manner and that there is consistency across responses from all agencies.
• Manage the Department and Deputy Premier's externally facing reception function.

The Strategy, Insights and Advisory (SIA) business group is responsible for the following functions:
» Strategic policy, including macroeconomic oversight, intergovernmental and whole-of-government policy matters and complex internal policy requiring coordination and collaboration.
» Marketing, communications, and media.
» Cabinet and parliamentary services, ministerial and executive services and the Office of the Director-General.
» strategic advice and oversight of commercial transactions, complex projects, business intelligence and performance management.
