As a Principal Planner within the Improvement and Assessment Division, you will create real impact for communities across the state and take a leading role in:
• the assessment of infrastructure designations for infrastructure such as schools, healthcare, emergency services, social and affordable housing and sports facilities
• the management of the Ministerial call-in functions and the assessment of called in applications
• the assessment of Regional Interest Development Applications
• evaluating and assessing State Facilitated Development proposals
• the case management of Planning & Environment (P&E) Court proceedings involving State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA) decisions.

Improvement and Assessment Division is seeking a highly skilled, proactive Principal Planner with a passion for excellence to join our division. Bring your innovative regional and urban town planning expertise to make a positive impact on key issues across Queensland. The role will include:
• Assist with the assessment of Ministerial Infrastructure Designation proposals and called in applications, along with the preparation of all necessary documentation for the Planning Minister's consideration and decision.
• Assist with the assessment of Regional Interest Development Applications under the Regional Planning Interests Act 2014.
• Apply specialist development assessment knowledge and expertise to undertake complex liaison and negotiation on development applications (including P&E Court matters) and other development assessment related matters that are of strategic importance to the department.
• Undertake research and analysis and interpret complex issues in relation to planning initiatives.
• Liaise, negotiate and develop effective networks with stakeholders to deliver planning outcomes.
• Provide detailed expert advice and support to senior management and to stakeholders.
• Initiate and prepare clear and well researched correspondence, briefings, instructions to lawyers, development conditions, reports and cabinet documentation.
• Interpret, apply and advise on relevant legislation, policies and procedures to customers.
• Participate in, and on occasions, lead multi-disciplinary projects and project teams.
• Represent the department, as appropriate, at industry/stakeholders events, Court mediations, meetings and working groups in an effective and professional manner.
