About the Role:
This is a rare opportunity to work within the Office of the Governor and be part of the team that supports the Governor to fulfil the large number of constitutional, ceremonial and civic duties required both locally and internationally. Based at Government House Estate in Paddington, this role provides a critical function in guiding and implementing governance strategies, ensuring compliance and supporting continuous improvement across the organisation.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the successful candidate will provide expert advice and manage the Office's governance frameworks, including compliance registers and reporting processes. The role is central to ensuring the Office meets its legislative and ethical obligations, contributes to strategic planning cycles and supports corporate documentation and oversight of internal committees. It also involves engagement with stakeholders to promote governance awareness and participating in policy development, including human resources policy alignment.
This is a dynamic opportunity for a capable professional to influence high-level organisational outcomes.
About You:
You will be a proactive and professional individual with a strong understanding of corporate governance, compliance frameworks and public sector obligations. Your experience will demonstrate the ability to work confidently with legislative requirements and strategic objectives, and you will be capable of delivering practical advice and solutions to senior stakeholders.
Your interpersonal and communication skills will be exceptional, enabling you to influence, collaborate and build strong relationships across diverse internal andexternal audiences. You will possess a high level of written capability, with experience in preparing reports, developing policies, and providing formal briefings.
Experience or exposure to human resource policy or strategic workforce initiatives will be highly regarded.
A relevant degree and experience in a business management discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in a similar position is required.
Why Join Us:
Located in the distinguished surrounds of Government House, this role offers not only a fulfilling scope of work but also a professional environment built on the values of respect, integrity, leadership and teamwork.
You will join a small, supportive, and values-driven team committed to ethical leadership and continuous improvement. On-site parking is available for all staff and while occasional after-hours work may be required, it is typically voluntary and infrequent. This role is ideal for someone looking to contribute meaningfully in a governance and strategic capacity within a unique organisational setting.
