QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government.  It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.

About the role

You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by ensuring financial integrity, managing administrative processes, and providing critical insights for strategic decision-making.

Defined Duties and skills:

  • Managing and coordinating the Region's financial activities, analysing and preparing accurate and detailed financial data and reports, and implementing relevant financial policies to ensure a high level of financial management support to QBuild leadership. 
  • Managing the annual budget preparation for the Region, including liaising with Corporate Finance and provide updated forecasts; accruals, journals and coordinate end of month and financial year processes as determined by Corporate Finance. 
  • Managing debts and acting as liaison for the Region with Corporate Finance, to ensure QBuild's performance targets around debtors are met and variance reporting.  
  • Effectively managing administrative and financial support staff, including allocation of duties to ensure adequate administration support, together with providing guidance and support around Work Order Management for the Region.  
  • Managing the development and implementation of work procedures, protocols and instructions and arrange training as required. 
  • Maintaining a sound knowledge of financial and administrative standards, policies and procedures, to ensure QBuild's compliance and accountability in relation to relevant government legislative and procedural requirements, including Freedom of Information requests. 
  • Supporting and monitoring disaster management financial arrangements where required. 
  • Contributing to operational and strategic planning, client reporting, and provide input to Ministerial briefings, estimates briefings, RTI requests and other requests from the QBuild executive as required

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a particular focus on intermediate-level Excel skills, including the ability to generate reports, format and analyse data
