Queensland Treasury have an exciting 12-month opportunity as the Executive Director, Distribution, Consumer and Innovation. In the role you will help shape Queensland's energy future in this pivotal leadership role by leading a specialist team responsible for creating policies and strategies that ensure affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy supply across the state. You will oversee vital areas such as consumer-facing energy policy, the integration of Consumer Energy Resources (CER), and regional pricing mechanisms. This is an opportunity to drive a significant sectoral transformation, making Queensland a leader in renewable energy integration while addressing cost-of-living pressures for consumers.

Your expertise will help establish and execute consumer and distribution policies supporting Queensland's energy transition. By innovating processes, engaging stakeholders, and embedding new energy solutions such as rooftop solar and electric vehicle integration, you will greatly influence Queensland's clean energy future. Deliver impact in a role that combines strategic leadership with a focus on technical excellence and community outcomes.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide high-quality strategic advice to senior leadership on consumer, distribution, and retail energy policies to support affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy supply.
  • Lead the development and implementation of programs, regulatory frameworks, and consumer-driven strategies that support Queensland energy users.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to increase Consumer Energy Resources adoption and effectively integrate these resources into the energy system.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including government-owned corporations, consumer advocacy groups, and regulated entities.
  • Represent Queensland Treasury at critical forums, ensuring departmental and stakeholder interests are promoted effectively.
  • Oversee the delivery of portfolio commitments aligned with Queensland's energy goals, ensuring delivery within budget and achieving service standards.

What experience you will bring:

  • Extensive experience and expertise across the public, private, or not-for-profit sectors, with a strong focus on strategy, policy implementation, and client outcomes.
  • Proven ability to lead and drive change within complex organisational environments.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with a track record of building confident and capable teams.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with stakeholders, government agencies, and industry players to foster collaboration and consensus-driven results.
  • A commitment to innovation and delivering sustainable consumer-centred energy solutions that address long-term community and business needs.
