QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government.  It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.

About the role

You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by working closely with the Principal WHS Advisors the WHS Manager to implement and monitor operational Workplace Heath Safety and Environmental (WHS&E) matters in QBuild.

Duties and skills involved:

  • Conducting site WHS&E audits and inspections to ensure compliance for both QBuild and contractor delivered work.  
  • Providing WHS&E advice and guidance to department operational, supervisory and management staff regarding QBuild Safety Management System (SMS) processes and requirements, and legislative compliance. 
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of information sessions educating on the relevant WHS&E information and activities to department staff. 
  • Assisting with reporting and investigating QBuild WHS&E incidents and contractor notifiable incidents. 
  • Assisting with the worker rehabilitation and return to work programs, under the guidance of the RRTW Advisor or WHS Manager.  
  • Assisting with coordinating with the emergency planning and response activities for QBuild offices and depots. 
  • Assisting with the development, review and implementation of SWMSs, risk assessments and WHS Management plans. 
  • Assisting with regular WHS&E reporting for regions and business.   
  • Assisting with the delivery of a range of health and safety programs, to enable a service that is responsive to the needs of the stakeholders.
