The position is based in Brisbane, and the successful candidate will have the option to work from home under an approved Flexible Work Arrangement.

 

Key Outcomes and Accounabilities 

  • Delivering high quality advocacy services in administrative review and disciplinary proceedings in the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, judicial review and other proceedings in the Supreme Court, and appellant proceedings in the Queensland Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
  • Conducting litigation matters to which the QBCC is a party, including managing a legal case load, preparing litigation plans, and developing complex or sensitive legal documents including statements of reasons, applications, witness statements, briefs, submissions and correspondence.
  • Providing specialist legal advice relevant to the statutory functions of the QBCC by researching issues or reviewing legislation and policies and offering appropriate strategies and actions.

Candidate Attributes 

  1. Demonstrated litigation experience, including advocacy, preferably related to government and preferably within administrative law or civil litigation.
  2. Ability to undertake legal research  and  analysis to produce high quality, practical legal advice on issues of law, practice and policy.
  3. High level interpersonal skills including written and oral communications and the ability to apply negotiation and mediation skills.
  4. Proven capacity to deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Other Requirements 

  • Admission, or eligible for admission, as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
  • Holder of a current practicing certificate issued by the Queensland Law Society or ability to obtain one.
  • Fully compliant with all CPD requirements of the Queensland Law Society.
