About the role
The purpose of this position is to deliver contemporary clinical mental health services in the areas of assessment, intervention, treatment planning and evaluation for adults with severe and complex mental health needs within a community mental health setting in accordance with professional, ethical and National Mental Health standards and legislation.
Some of the key accountabilities of the role are:
- Provide discipline specific clinical services (group, individual and systemic) within a mental health context commensurate with level of experience, and whilst under the clinical supervision or professional guidance of a more experienced practitioner.
- Manage own workload and undertake routine clinical practice within a mental health context with increasing independence, and in accordance with prescribed professional practice standards and ethical standards of service delivery.
- Actively participate in the multidisciplinary mental health team, operating at a level of clinical practice that is commensurate with level of experience, and whilst under the clinical supervision or professional guidance of a more experienced practitioner.
- As experience builds, make clinical decisions, and solve problems by exercising clinical judgement of increasing independence.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Recognised knowledge and clinical skills in mental health as obtained through relevant tertiary education, with a demonstrated ability to translate and apply this knowledge to clinical service provision within the context of a multidisciplinary team. These services include the use of core discipline assessment and intervention skills, diagnostic and formulation skills, treatment planning and case management.
- Demonstrated ability to build, maintain and effectively manage professional relationships with consumers, carers and families, service providers and other health professionals, including the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Ability to apply effective written and verbal communication skills to provide professional services and advice in a manner that is consistent with evidence-based care, recovery principals and in accordance with relevant prescribed professional and ethical standards.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in quality or service improvement activities under the clinical practice and / or professional supervision of a more experienced practitioner.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2016 and other relevant legislations.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
