The role of the Manager, Industrial Relations is to provide strategic and tactical industrial and employee relations advice and support to senior leaders and other stakeholders in relation to enterprise bargaining, management/union consultative processes, dispute management and technical advice relating to workforce legislation and industrial instruments.
The Manager also leads a small team including a Principal and Senior Advisor, primarily in relation to the development and implementation of agency specific enterprise bargaining agreements.

The Manager's key responsibilities are:
• Manage complex industrial and employee relations issues with management and employees, including policy development, Award and Agreement application and interpretation.
• Develop, negotiate and facilitate implementation of the department's consultative processes, including management of relationships with unions.
• Provide strategic and tactical advice and support to management in relation to managing dispute processes as well as advocacy representation in the Queensland Industrial Commission in relation significant departmental disputes.
• Facilitate the development and implementation of agency specific Certified Agreements (enterprise bargaining agreements).
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with relevant industrial unions, the Public Service Commission and the Office of Industrial Relations.
• Represent the Department in a range of settings, for example industrial negotiations, forums and committees or as an advocate in commissions and/or tribunal hearings.
• Provide leadership and direction to the Industrial Relations and Policy team by promoting and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
