As a key member of the SEQ Procurement – Capital Works team, the role will be required to provide a procurement service for operational staff and develop and promote procurement ‘best practice’ and contract performance across the State. These are temporary fixed-term opportunities for six months with the possibility of extension and flexible on location, working from our QBuild offices based at Cannon Hill, Nerang or Caboolture.

About the Role:
Reporting to the QBuild Senior Procurement Advisor, you will advance the Governments objectives and embed the principles of the Queensland Procurement Policy through our procurement processes and systems. This position is responsible for providing a procurement service for operational staff, as well as providing services and support with a focus on the provision of services to meet quality and value for money expectations of clients within required time frames.
These are temporary fixed-term opportunities for six months with the possibility of extension, working from our QBuild offices based at Cannon Hill, Nerang or Caboolture.
Duties and skills involved:
- Communicating procurement strategies and Queensland Procurement Policy requirements to staff and facilitating changes to traditional procurement practices through training and education programs.
- Preparing and calling of tenders for a variety of categories involving construction, maintenance, consulting and upgrade activities, including evaluation and regulatory techniques.
- Providing guidance and assistance to operational and estimating teams in purchasing and the associated policies, and pricing of future works.
- Implementing local procurement practices and processes in accordance with the Queensland Procurement Policy including contributing to reduced material and subcontractor costs.
- Establishing relationships with suppliers and subcontractors focusing on competitive pricing and meeting established performance standards, as well as to contribute to the development and implementation of regional Standing Offer Agreements and medium and major building contracts.
- Leading, supporting and training a team of purchasing, procurement and contract management officers, including identifying and addressing training requirements of the team, up-skilling and motivating staff to exceed expectations.
- Ensuring compliance with the Queensland Procurement Policy, delegation and other polices and legislation relating to procurement in government.
- Developing, implementing and monitoring procurement instructions, procedures, guidelines and standard forms while maintaining document control (in conjunction with Quality Assurance).
- Providing efficient and high standards of customer service to QBuild's customers, including coordinating responses to escalated customer queries.
What we are looking for:
- Ability to work flexibly without supervision, effectively managing activities and demonstrate judgement about when to escalate issues.
- Applies highly developed problem solving and decision-making skills, by using analysis, experience, business acumen and judgement to make informed decisions that are supported by clear rationale.
- Demonstrate a high level of skill and experience in drafting reports/documents and is committed to their own development and continuous self-improvement and sees learning opportunities in everyday work.
- Applies understanding and knowledge of Queensland Procurement Policy and other policies and legislation relating to procurement activities.
- Communicate and work with various stakeholders (Regional Procurement Staff, Delivery, Program and Planning staff, Suppliers etc) providing assistance, guidance, and information on sourcing solutions for various projects, future works, goods/services supply, contract terms and conditions, supplier performance etc.
- Demonstrate professionalism, be an enthusiastic contributor to QBuild's culture and a positive member of the procurement team providing the highest standard of customer service.
Mandatory Requirements/ Certifications:
While not mandatory, formal procurement, purchasing and/or contract management accreditation, including Queensland Purchasing, QGCPO, CIPS or Procurement Certification L2 will be highly regarded.
