The Communications and Media Branch in the Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games is responsible for our department's strategic communications, media and issues management, internal communications, digital channel management and design services.
We're a dynamic, creative, and hardworking team looking for a Media Manager to lead a team of media professionals to develop and deliver media strategies to achieve excellent outcomes and ensure the department's key strategic priorities are communicated to audiences through a variety of media channels.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Manage our digital media newsroom, using innovative methods to share proactive stories to promote the work of the department.
- Lead and manage the Media Team within the Communications and Media Branch including identifying opportunities for team members to develop skills in identifying and delivering media opportunities.
- Research and write succinct media content as required, create newsworthy and engaging media opportunities and materials, succinct, deliver high quality speeches and event packs and set a standard of excellence for proactive storytelling.
- Oversee the quality of the team's content, ensuring excellent attention to detail.
- Take ownership of your role and be a leader within our branch, supporting collaboration across all areas of the branch, demonstrating our core values, celebrating success and committing to continued learning and development.
- Be a positive leader, and lead by example to navigate ambiguity, and support your team to be resilient and positive about delivering excellence in a rapidly changing environment, and responsive to client feedback and needs.
- Work with the Branch's Senior Leadership Team to foster a strong team culture of generosity, collaboration, high performance, creativity and optimism.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring services are audience-focussed, highly effective and demonstrate innovation and fresh ideas.
- Provide high level advice to senior executives and ministerial advisors to develop and implement strategies to achieve storytelling success.
- Educate the business to identify potential situations that may impact reputation and implement media strategies as required.
- Report on media activity and monitor media coverage.
There are no mandatory qualifications required for this role, but at least 12 years' practical experience in media roles, demonstrated leadership experience, and a love of sport will be favourably regarded.
