We want you to be a part of a team that is making a difference. Legal Services in the department prides ourselves on our excellent customer service and our ability to work collaboratively with our internal stakeholders to achieve the department's strategic objectives.

In this role your key responsibility will:

• Provide timely, high quality legal advice to the portfolio Minister, Director-General, Coordinator-General, senior executives and other officers in the department. In particular, you will:
 o Provide timely, high quality legal advice in the planning and environment law area to the portfolio Minister and Coordinator-General, senior executives and other officers in the Office of the Coordinator-General and the Department.
 o Provide legal advice on the planning and regulatory aspects of major projects (including the powers of the Coordinator-General and interaction of Queensland planning legislation), development and environment approvals, environmental impact assessments, the interpretation of planning instruments, and other planning and environmental issues.
 o Provide advice on legal issues relating to infrastructure projects and other development projects (especially with respect to the powers of the Coordinator-General), as well as in respect of property, commercial, and contract law issues.
 o Manage the conduct of complex and sensitive litigation on behalf of the Minister and Department.
• Managing the provision of legal advice outsourced to external legal firms including Crown Law.
• Mentoring junior lawyers.
• Maintaining effective relationships with a range of clients and stakeholders.
• Assisting General Counsel and the Directors to identify and make recommendations to senior management on trends, risks and emerging legal issues affecting the Department.
