Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks (GBR&MP) Region are excited to share an opportunity for a Ranger (Compliance) to join the team on a temporary basis.
As one of the six regions of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the GBR&MP Region delivers conservation and management activities across land and sea including implementing the Reef Joint Field Management Program in the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. Additionally, the Region oversees the state's southern marine parks - Great Sandy Marine Park and Moreton Bay Marine Park.
This role's main responsibility is Compliance Operations, involving the planning, execution, and reporting of compliance activities across National Park islands and Marine Parks in the North Tropical Coast region and the wider Great Barrier Reef (GBR) area. You will collaborate closely with the Reef Authority, Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol (QBFP), Traditional Owner Partners, various government agencies, and key stakeholder groups to ensure effective management and protection of these environments.
Role focus:
• Plan, carry out, and report on compliance activities, including park patrols and enforcement of relevant laws.
• Collaborate with the Reef Authority, QBFP, Indigenous partners, government agencies, and stakeholders.
• Supervise teams and contribute to project planning, resource management and infrastructure maintenance.
• Manage emergency response plans, operate equipment, and handle customer enquiries and education.
To be considered you must hold the following qualifications:
• an unrestricted manual driver's licence
• Coxswain Grade1 Near Coastal or higher Master V and MED 2 is a highly desirable qualification, but not essential.
