QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by leading and coordinating a team of Estimators and managing complex estimating projects.
Duties and skills involved:
- Facilitating and coordinating estimating activities to achieve successful project delivery outcomes.
- Managing the delivery of estimating programs and projects particularly those deemed medium to high risk, significant or complex in nature.
- Producing high quality estimates and quotation documentation for building projects, ensuring compliance with the State Purchasing Policy, Minor Works, local instructions and tendering and contract methods, and client requirements.
- Undertaking research and development in project planning, budgeting, estimating, programming, delivery processes and procurement practices.
- Reporting on relevant estimating projects and/or programs providing information on volume, requests, clients, locations, acceptance rates, costs, schedule of rates, margins and productivity.
- Maintaining a healthy and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with current human resource practices and principles, including employment equity, anti-discrimination and workplace health and safety.
- Enhancing client relationships through effective communication, sound negotiation and the provision of timely, professional, competitive estimates.
- Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
Additional requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in compiling and project managing complex estimating projects in a building construction and maintenance environment.
- Thorough working knowledge of building construction and maintenance legislative and regulatory requirements, principles and practices and contract procedures.
