Senior Health and Safety Advisor
Support; Metro South Region; Spring Hill
The Senior Health and Safety Advisor will provide high level leadership, coaching and advisory services across the region to influence and drive health and safety initiatives that are designed to improve safety culture, align with organisational strategy and continually improve workplace health and safety (WHS) performance.
The role will also ensure that workplace practices within the region are continually monitored and reviewed to ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:
- Demonstrated high-level knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety legislation and risk management approaches, with proven success in the development and implementation of WHS management systems and initiatives that drive improved performance in complex and dynamic working environments.
- Proven ability to provide high-level professional leadership and advice to positively influence outcomes and safety culture, leading to compliance with systems and improved workplace health and safety performance.
- Demonstrated capability and experience in the effective planning and oversight of rehabilitation and return to work and health and safety services to key internal stakeholders, including supervision of health and safety practitioners.
- Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to effectively engage, collaborate, influence and innovate with a broad range of stakeholders, in the context of a statewide ambulance service in a 24/7 operating environment.
- Demonstrated capability in preparing well researched briefings, submissions and correspondence in relation to health and safety issues, such as responding to notifiable incidents and regulatory infringement notices and/or operational/project/capability plans.
- Proven success in developing, facilitating and delivering coaching and training and/or informative presentations to senior executives, managers and staff regarding health, safety and wellbeing that leads to improved practices.
The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:
- Whilst not mandatory, possession of tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety and/or Health/Injury Management will be highly regarded.
- The successful applicant should be willing to perform the function of the Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator, including obtaining the applicable qualification once appointed, if required.
- The incumbent may be required to travel on official business and the possession of a C class driver's licence may be required.
