Join the Joint Management Team – Ranger (Cape York/Central QLD)

Support Traditional Owners and the department to deliver real outcomes across 35 jointly managed national parks. This unique role fosters strong partnerships, supports communication between stakeholders and helps implement policies, budgets and workplans for protected area management.

As a Ranger, you'll contribute to land, fire, pest, and visitor management while promoting conservation and cultural values. Work in diverse environments, support Traditional Owner priorities, and help maintain Queensland’s natural treasures.

Join the Joint Management Team and help shape the future of 35 of Queensland's most iconic national parks—34 across the stunning, remote Cape York Peninsula and one in Central Queensland—through joint management agreements between the Queensland Government and Traditional Owners.

What you'll be doing:

As a key player in the Joint Management Team, you'll help deliver outcomes that matter:
- Build and maintain genuine partnerships with Traditional Owners, departmental staff, and local communities.
- Help roll out work plans, budgets, and operational strategies that turn joint management priorities into on-ground results.
- Provide vital administrative and logistical support, keeping projects on track and communication flowing.
- Assist in delivering field operations, community engagement, and conservation programs across protected areas.
- Champion respectful, inclusive, and culturally safe practices in everything you do.

What we're looking for:

We're seeking a motivated individual who thrives in hands-on environments, values meaningful collaboration, and brings a genuine respect for Indigenous culture,knowledge and connection to Country.
To succeed, you'll need:
- Strong communication skills and a passion for working with Traditional Owners and remote communities.
- Experience in land, cultural heritage, or environmental management.
- Solid planning and organisational abilities, including budgeting and reporting.
- Willingness and fitness to work in remote field environments for extended periods.
- An open mind, cultural awareness, and a genuine desire to listen, learn and grow.
