The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is on a bold journey towards Brisbane 2032 and beyond. Following the extraordinary success of Queensland athletes at the recent Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are now focused on delivering even more medal-winning moments through to Los Angeles 2028 and our home Games in 2032.

Our ambitious high-performance strategy for the 2032 Games is to create more medal-winning moments for Queensland athletes that inspire their state and nation.
While our strategy guides our performance, our culture truly delivers it. Given our vision, our culture is vitally important to us.

In this role, you'll support the Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement (AW&E) Team and Program to align with the QAS Vision, Strategy, and Values. The AW&E Program focuses on delivering a holistic, high-performance athlete journey. You will work with the AW&E Lead and partners to ensure athletes are inducted, prepared to thrive, and supported to become inspiring role models-particularly those 4–8 years from podium success.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Provide strategic advice and leadership to the AW&E Lead, QAS management, and partner sports on the development and delivery of high-impact wellbeing strategies, programs, and projects.
• Lead complex AW&E initiatives from design to implementation, applying project management principles to deliver programs that are athlete-centred, evidence informed, and sustainable in high-performance settings.
• Build and manage strategic partnerships with the AIS, NSOs, education and training providers, and industry to create innovative, system-level opportunities for athlete development, education, and career progression.
• Drive system integration of wellbeing and engagement principles, ensuring they are embedded across QAS strategy, performance frameworks, coach development, and athlete support models.
• Represent QAS in national forums and working groups, contributing to cross agency collaboration and the evolution of athlete wellbeing best practices across the high-performance sport system.
• Deliver individualised athlete wellbeing support by assessing needs and tailoring strategies that align with each athlete's stage of development and high-performance journey.
• Work collaboratively within performance support teams to integrate wellbeing into daily training environments and athlete performance plans.
• Support athletes to build the skills, strategies, and confidence needed to navigate the pressures of elite sport, maintain wellbeing, and pursue meaningful education, career, and life opportunities.
• Facilitate connections with education providers, employers, and community organisations to create flexible and relevant dual career options that meet the diverse needs and aspirations of athletes.
• Contribute to the delivery of key AW&E programs and initiatives, including athlete leadership development, safeguarding education, and career transition support, ensuring they are responsive and relevant to athlete needs.

The Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our athletes.
We are committed to an environment where athletes from any background are heard, treated fairly and free from abuse.

Applications to remain current for 12 months.
