Senior Program Officer

The purpose of the role is to manage projects related to the revocation, dedication and declaration of protected areas and State forests, land administration, and aid in the development of plans and other geographical information.
This position will be required to work seamlessly with team members and other stakeholders to ensure program outcomes are delivered in a timely manner.
The focus of the Tenure Services team is to enhance protection of Queensland’s biodiversity through the dedication and declaration of land as a protected area or forestry tenure, and to facilitate the revocation of protected areas and State forests.
The team also oversees compliance with operational policy, procedures and governance arrangements to ensure quality services are delivered to stakeholders and partners.

As the Senior Program Officer, you will:
• Manage projects relevant to either land administration, dedication/revocation of protected areas, and the development of plans and other geographical information.
• Ensure processes comply with relevant legislation, departmental policies, relevant standards, statutory requirements and landholder obligations.
• Research and analyse information, and prepare correspondence, reports, briefings, submissions and official plans for Executive Council, Cabinet, Parliament, the Minister and Executive Management.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders as required, including QPWS&P regions, state and local governments, First Nations people, and relevant stakeholders relating to land administration, tenure, boundary and property dealing matters.
• Facilitate continuous improvement to systems and processes to ensure efficient project tracking and delivery.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples of Australia.
