As a member of the District Leadership Team and leader of the Technical Services unit, you will work closely with project sponsors and program managers to ensure technical support aligns with program criteria and priorities.

This role involves overseeing technical areas for the Far North District, including:
• Environmental and Cultural Heritage
• Design
• Materials Services
• Survey, Geospatial, and Road Information Systems
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide vision and direction for Technical Services (TS), ensuring alignment with state-wide priorities and goals.
• Apply and manage governance frameworks to monitor compliance with policies, legislation, regulations, standards, and procedures related to infrastructure activities.
• Develop strategies to maintain technical capability across TS services, including managing permanent staff, contractors, and external consultancies.
• Maintain a TS program of works by liaising with functional areas and other TS
Managers to ensure consistent resource allocation and standards for delivering state-wide priorities.
• Coordinate consultant engagement and monitor performance against contractual agreements.
• Offer strategic operational advice on TS issues to the District Director and program managers.
• Contribute to District Leadership Team activities and initiatives.
• Uphold Public Service Values and the Code of Conduct, maintaining confidentiality and professional integrity.
Mandatory Qualifications and Conditions:
• A criminal history check will be conducted prior to appointment due to access to sensitive data.
Desirable Requirements:
• A recognised tertiary qualification in a related field is highly desirable.
• Experience in a technical discipline relevant to transport engineering or civil projects (e.g., design, survey, planning).
