This position leads a state-wide team responsible for managing projects within the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships (QPWS&P), with a focus on visitor management and communications. A key component of the role involves developing and implementing visitor management and communications aspects of the QPWS&P capital works program. This position works collaboratively with capital works delivery teams and regional visitor management teams, providing expert advice, tools and operational guidelines to ensure safe, inclusive and memorable visitor experiences in Queensland’s protected areas.

As the Manager, you will:
• Lead and assist with strategic direction to a multi-disciplinary functional team in working to deliver specialist visitor engagement and communications across QPWS&P and Queensland's protected areas.
• Ensure the effective and efficient application of government initiatives for communicating safety, legislative, advisory and natural and cultural interpretive information to visitors effectively in accordance with government arrangements and Departmental policies and procedures.
• Ensure legislative and custodial responsibilities are met with regards to visitor management communications on QPWS&P estate.
• Oversee project management including projects for external clients with a focus on First Nations people and their representative organisations to ensure timely delivery of outcomes.
• Lead and assist with the strategic interface between other work units including QPWS&P regions, Parks Services, Permissions Management and Ecotourism, to give effect to nature and heritage conservation policies and outcomes.
• Lead reviews of business systems processes, implementation of continuous improvement and development of policies and standard operational procedures and oversee effective monitoring and reporting systems associated with visitor management and communication.
• Prepare high level complex submissions and briefings through the Director, Asset Services for Cabinet, the Minister and Executive Management and other key stakeholders.
• Represent the Department in high level communications and negotiations with First Nations people representative organisations, other Government Agencies, local government and the non-government sector.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples of Australia.
