Information Technology Services (ITS) is adopting new ways of working. The Director, Strategy and Transformation plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the changes that we make will support and enhance the work of operational teams and deliver great services for our customers. To do this, the Director builds on the commitment, drive and experience of existing teams, while introducing new ways of working, and identifying opportunities for growth and professional development, and the career pathways that come from delivering major programs of work.

As part of the Executive Leadership team of ITS, you will collaborate closely with the Chief Information Officer, the other Directors, and the ISIP Digital Enablement Program, Senior Program Director. The Director will ensure continuity of reliable and high-quality service provision, while supporting and enabling transformational change.

Your key responsibilities

  • Oversee the delivery of high value services to our customers in areas such as ICT strategy and policy, information management and security, strategic business engagement, enterprise architecture, ICT governance, and ICT portfolio, program and project management services.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior management and relevant governance committees on strategic and operational information management, enterprise architecture, policy and technology issues and their potential to impact the Department's goals and objectives.
  • Mentor, coach and support managers and staff, providing opportunities and encouragement to adopt and adapt to new ways of working including managing in times of change and dealing with ambiguity and a dynamic strategy environment.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of an operating model that reflects our changing ways of working.

Technical skills, abilities and cultural capability

  • Ensure the development, implementation and review of information management, enterprise architecture, technology standards and policies that support departmental and whole of government Information Communication and Technology (ICT) goals and objectives.
  • Engage with influence across technical and non-technical cohorts regarding information management and security, innovation opportunities, ICT strategy and architectural standards for DoJ.
  • Develop, implement and review appropriate policies and practices for the effective and efficient management of information resources and promote this throughout the Department.
  • Take a leading role in developing a work environment characterised by initiative, innovation and equity and participate in decision-making to ensure the Department is increasingly capable of achieving Government objectives.
  • Coordinate interactions between whole-of-Government agencies and the department relating to reporting requirements such as the ICT workplan and ICT profiling.
  • Coordinate interactions and represent departmental interests in whole-of-Government ICT consultation requests.
