QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role
You will play a crucial role in helping QBuild strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing essential labour support on key projects.
Duties and skills involved:
- Perform general manual labour.
- Support trades with basic building and engineering tasks (e.g., installing frames, running cables, minor repairs).
- Carry out minor maintenance, including light bulb changes, refrigeration equipment cleaning and general repairs.
- Assist with digging, trenching, concreting and foundation work in various soil types.
- Erect and dismantle temporary fencing, signage and assist with scaffold and ladder setup.
- Operate machinery (e.g., forklifts, if licensed) and drive vehicles for deliveries and site duties.
- Use hand tools and small equipment (e.g., hammers, power tools, compactors, jackhammers, soldering, welding) for a range of tasks.
- Carry out site clean-up, maintenance and hazard control following safety procedures.
- Help with depot and client premises maintenance (e.g., mowing, weeding, equipment upkeep).
- Load and unload deliveries, manage inventory and assist in store control.
- Assist with furniture shifts - building to building or floor to floor.
- Work safely at heights, including on roofs when assisting tradespersons.
- Read and interpret basic work instructions and plans under supervision.
- Maintain proactive attitude, take initiative and follow directions as part of a team.
Additional requirements:
- Current Workplace Health & Safety General Safety Induction Card (White Card).
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
