About the role:

As a Senior Lawyer, you will represent clients in administrative law matters, including case preparation, advocacy, and appearances in courts, tribunals, and mediations. You will provide legal advice, task assistance, and information to clients statewide via phone, videoconference, and face-to-face. Additionally, you will mentor and supervise legal staff, contribute to policy, and law reform initiatives, collaborate with external stakeholders and community groups to improve service delivery, and develop and maintain case management standards, legal advice guides, and other resources. This role may involve exposure to traumatic material and events.

What we're looking for:

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Possess extensive knowledge and experience in administrative law and civil law intersections.
  • Demonstrate strong advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills, including the ability to engage with clients with complex needs using trauma-informed practice principles.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities, including mentoring and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Uphold high standards of ethical practice, governance, and risk management.
  • This role is not suitable for early career lawyers.

Mandatory requirements

  • Admission or eligibility for immediate admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland.
  • Eligibility for a current unrestricted practising certificate and entry in the High Court Register of Practitioners.
  • Disclosure of any banning orders under s73ZN of the NDIS Act 2013 (if applicable).
