The Clinical Support Officer - Indigenous Cadet Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the design, development, coordination, and delivery of high-quality clinical education programs for QAS operational staff, with a focus on indigenous employees.

The role will actively monitor the progress of the indigenous employees within the district and provide support and guidance to the Officers in Charge and Paramedics who mentor and supervise them.

  • Foster productive relationships with instructional and content specialists to ensure their effective contribution to the development of high-quality clinical education programs.
  • Contribute to the achievement of QAS education objectives to ensure the current and future workforce has the appropriate skills to deliver frontline services which meet government policy requirements and community needs.
  • Conduct training needs analyses, performance reviews and professional development for operational staff to identify development opportunities in relation to paramedic practice.
  • Contribute to the performance review and professional development of paramedics, with responsibility for the education and development of Indigenous Cadets in the district.
  • Assist with the ongoing development of continuing competency requirements, audit programs and clinical performance within the district.
  • Assist with the design, development, coordination and delivery of best practice clinical education programs in accordance with QAS policies and procedures, registered training organisation requirements, tertiary education sector standards, QAS strategic and business goals and community expectations and needs with a specific focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Maintain learning and development records including competency records, assessment records and other service specific records in line with RTO regulations.
  • Implement effective work practices and business processes to ensure key performance indicators are achieved.
  • Contribute to the continuous quality improvement of clinical services and activities as measured by appropriate validation methodologies, audit outcomes and research.
  • Positively contribute to the clinical education portfolio to ensure harmonious and efficient service delivery and promote effective communication between staff, the QAS and the community.
  • Complete all in-service education and administrative delegations and provide routine and specific reports to district managers as required.
  • Actively participate in real time in-field officer support activities as required, to ensure ongoing clinical quality improvement for paramedics.
  • Maintain current personal clinical knowledge and skills to effectively coach and empower other QAS staff.
  • Lead and manage staff in emergency management capability for disasters, major incidents and mass crowd gatherings, in close consultation with the Director Operations - Emergency Management, State Headquarters.
  • Maintain credentialed scope of clinical practice as approved by the Medical Director and/or Commissioner, QAS.
  • As a leader, actively demonstrate and promote the QAS's approach of zero tolerance towards violence and commit to supporting those affected by domestic and family violence in accordance with QAS policies and mechanisms. Model and influence a workplace culture of gender equality, respectful relationships, diversity, inclusion, employee safety and support.
  • Uphold the QAS Statement of Commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Cultural Safety Policy Statement and prioritise safe, effective, quality healthcare that is free from racism and discrimination.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Public Sector and QAS values.
