Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) plays a leadership role in the biosecurity system in collaboration with its stakeholders. BQ leads the Queensland Government's efforts to protect our way of life, environment, biodiversity, human and animal health, industries and economy from plant and animal pest and disease threats.
Through supporting the collective efforts of our stakeholders and all Queenslanders, BQ will continue to protect our state and Australia from emerging plant and animal pests and diseases and effectively manage existing ones.
Plant Biosecurity and Product Integrity (PBPI) - The PBPI Program has an integral role in delivering BQ's vision of leading the delivery of innovative, customer focused biosecurity services for Queensland. The Program's goal is to protect Queensland's agricultural industries, environment and communities from plant pests and diseases, and facilitate trade in high quality, safe agricultural products.
As our principal policy officer, you will provide operational services that protect and enhance plant biosecurity in Queensland. With Queensland being affected by more biosecurity incursions than any other Australian state or territory, your efforts will be integral in helping the government prevent, respond to, and recover from biosecurity concerns that threaten our environment and economy.
You will know you're achieving success in the role when you:
• are dedicated to negotiating market access conditions for Queensland plants and plant products
• establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external clients whilst developing interstate market access accreditations
• are investigating new and contemporary systems that support access for plants and plant products to markets with quarantine restrictions.
It is a requirement for all Biosecurity Queensland positions to have a criminal history check completed.
Applications will remain current for 12 months.
