The Department:

Crown Law is the in-house legal firm for the Queensland Government offering intellectually stimulating, professionally engaging, and personally rewarding careers. You'll join a team trusted to advise on some of the state's most complex and highprofile legal matters.

About the Role:

As a Principal Lawyer (PO6) you will be part of Crown Law's Government Insurance and Risk Team, acting on complex and sensitive insurance litigation and advisory work on behalf of the State of Queensland and its agencies.

In this position you will:

• conduct complex, sensitive litigation across all courts and tribunals;
• provide expert legal advice on personal injuries, public liability and medical negligence;
• undertake high-level advisory work;
• support and deputise for the Assistant Crown Solicitor when required;
• provide supervision and guidance to other lawyers in the team as needed; and
• promote Crown Law's services and uphold high standards of client service and legal practice.

Skills & Experience:

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• admission as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland with 6+ years' post admission experience including demonstrated expertise in complex insurance litigation;
• strong working knowledge of the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules, Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002, and Civil Liability Act 2003;
• experience conducting litigation in State and Federal courts, including drafting, advocacy and dispute resolution;
• the experience to supervise, mentor and develop junior colleagues as required; and
• excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate skilfully and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
