As the Senior HR Officer (AO6) you will have the opportunity to develop and lead initiatives relating to key employment relations and industrial relations priorities for the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation. This position sits within the Workforce Relations and Integrity team in the People and Culture Branch and will work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders both internally and externally. As a Senior HR Officer you will contribute to building a high performing, respectful and inclusive workplace culture by providing expert employment relations advice on strategic and operational matters to both management and employees. As the Senior Human Resources Officer, AO6, you will:
• Provide high level advice and recommendations to key stakeholders on a broad range of complex human resource matters on workforce, industrial and employee relations issues including interpretation of legislation, industrial instruments, and policies and procedures.
• Case manages complex and substantial discipline matters and employee complaints, including the engagement of investigators, guidance to delegates including the development of options and correspondence that is fair, impartial and which would withstand independent scrutiny.
• Case manages complex and sensitive employee related issues, including appearing as industrial advocate for the department at Queensland Industrial Relations Commission proceedings in disciplinary appeals and industrial disputes.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, briefs and other correspondence for internal and external audiences on sensitive and significant workforce industrial and employee relations issues.
• Actively lead and contribute to the development, implementation and review of human resources policy, procedures and guidelines.
• Coordinate and contribute to various departmental networks, committees and working groups, such as the Agency Consultative Committees.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples of Australia.
