The Executive Officer provides high-quality executive support by coordinating complex correspondence, preparing responses, undertaking high-level research, and providing expert advice on liaison and communications to support the branch. The role coordinates and drafts responses to high-level departmental initiatives on behalf of RSS, ensuring a considered and inclusive approach. In addition, the Executive Officer oversees directorate administration to enable the effective and efficient operation of the branch.

Your key responsibilities
- Develop clear messaging for the Assistant Director-General around change, including in relation to review recommendations, evaluations, audits, or other relevant inquiries.
- Research, coordinate and/or prepare quarterly reports, complex correspondence, memoranda, and briefings on a wide range of subjects, including confidential and sensitive matters such as ministerial correspondence, general briefing notes, questions on notice, estimates papers, service delivery statements, speeches, and possible parliamentary questions, to support the Assistant Director-General and ensure deadlines are met.
- Support the identification and consolidation of achievements and lessons learned from RSS initiatives to advise the Assistant Director-General on opportunities for improvement.
- Understand the impact of legislative amendments and provide the necessary information and research to support the Assistant Director-General in implementing related changes, including compliance reporting as required.
- Build partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders, including corporate areas across the department, to effectively support the Assistant Director-General in ensuring the consistent, coordinated, and effective delivery of RSS services.
