The Manager will lead and work collaboratively to manage and oversee the functions of the Specialist Disability Programs maximising access to and utilisation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) by at-risk Queenslanders.

This is a multidisciplinary, specialist team providing collaborative leadership and problem solving for people with disability who need support navigating multiple complex service systems or have had limited or no engagement with disability and/or universal services.

The team works intensively with clients alongside their existing services and stakeholders to support their access to appropriate disability supports. In addition, a key focus of the team is to share contemporary advice about navigating the NDIS and disability services with key stakeholders.

As Manager you will:

• Deliver successful outcomes through strong leadership, effective mentoring and training, and build collaborative relationships within a team environment and with key stakeholders including the interface with government service systems such as the NDIA, Child Safety, Education and Health.
• Apply specialist knowledge and expertise to establish project management, communication and implementation plans to support the delivery of program operations and outcomes, including plans for supporting people with disability to engage in complex service systems.
• Actively participate in and, where appropriate, lead local area client and stakeholder actions across government and non-government stakeholders, allied health professionals, general practitioners, specialist disability service practitioners and community organisations, developing productive partnerships to support client outcomes.
• Respond to emerging disability reform priorities and pivot deliverables to respond to policy and program scope changes.
• Undertake and provide proactive high-level analysis, review and evaluation of project targets to the Director and Executive Director in relation to project outcomes.
• Represent the department at appropriate networks and meetings, including presenting information at community and non-government provider forums and networks to further assist people with disability navigate complex service systems.
• Lead workshops and development of capacity building materials for key stakeholders across Government and key non-government partners.
• Lead project planning, monitoring and evaluation of programs, while managing complex human, financial, physical and information resources and systems.
• Develop, implement and guide performance management strategies to manage team performance and develop professional development strategies across all workforce functions of the team.

Role specific/technical skills

• Knowledge of the disability service system, including NDIS service delivery across access, planning and service engagement and awareness of challenges and barriers experienced by people with disability in engaging with mainstream services.
• In-depth knowledge of the Queensland child protection system, including its legislative framework, policies, and practices, with a particular focus on the supports available to children with disability with the child protection system, and an understanding of the unique challenges faced by children with disability in out-of-home care.
• A proven ability to lead collaboration with Child Safety stakeholders and initiatives that builds the knowledge and capability of the child protection sector in navigating the NDIS and disability service systems.

Your mandatory requirements

• Queensland Disability Worker Screening clearance.
• Possession of a C class drivers' licence.
• Frequent Intrastate travel will be required.
