Key responsibilities
In the role of Director (Rail Network Strategy) you will be responsible for leading development of strategy for the Southeast Queensland (SEQ) passenger rail network over the next 10-15 years including setting desired outcomes and requirements, and tracking performance against these, to support delivery of an integrated rail network.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Leading and managing a team of professionals developing rail strategies and planning, defining and monitoring key requirements for major rail projects and timetable implementation, undertaking operational modelling, validation, and assurance activities.
• Provide strategic and authoritative advice to senior executives to support their role as Project Sponsor for major rail projects, ensuring that projects deliver safe, reliable, accessible, and value for money outcomes that integrate with the existing rail network.
• Build effective stakeholder partnerships to identify potential risks and mitigations to support delivery of desired outcomes including working with other state agencies, local government, federal and state transport agencies, industry groups, and communities.
• Proactively and effectively participate in the leadership team for the Section including governance, business planning, financial and resource management, and workplace health and safety.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• It is a condition of employment for recommended appointee/s to disclose any previous serious discipline action taken against them for consideration by the delegate prior to any appointment.
Requirements of the role
• Experience developing and/or delivering strategic multi-modal transport planning solutions (strategic understanding of the rail network would be highly desirable, but not essential if the applicant can demonstrate transferable skills).
• Experience communicating with and influencing senior executives and stakeholders about transport planning matters.
