The primary work of an IPaM Advisor is to bring genuine and lasting change within Queensland workplaces through education and advice. Advisors are adaptable, autonomous, self-directed and relationship driven. Advisors form a highly motivated and passionate team of client focused safety specialists who take pride in assisting Queensland businesses to build capability.
All Advisors are field based and fully mobile, with employer worksite activities a key component of Injury Prevention and Management (IPaM) program delivery. IPaM programs are high performing, innovative and influential, with a proven history of helping Queensland businesses to better manage their work health and safety risks and injury management responsibilities.

Advisor activities include:
- Reviews of health, safety and injury management systems
- Identification of workplace hazards
- Assessments of workplace safety capability
- Providing tailored improvement advice
- Supporting employers to make genuine and lasting change.
The role is provided with a vehicle as it requires frequent travel between regional offices and employer worksites within South East Queensland.
This Senior Advisor AFS contributes to the recommendations from the Best Practice Review of Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver customer-driven, innovative and effective health and safety advisory services which assist priority businesses to achieve genuine and lasting change for both health and safety and injury management outcomes. This includes:
- Worksite visits to deliver high-level advisory services and complex case management, including comprehensive assessments of safety and hazard management systems, safety capability and rehabilitation and return-to-work processes.
- Tailored, succinct and specific advice, guidance and support to businesses.
- Managing ongoing relationships with individual businesses to influence genuine and lasting change that will improve measurable outcomes.
- Case managing businesses of all sizes and monitoring employers' progress towards business improvement goals.
- Provide operational support to the delivery of high-level projects and campaigns aimed at improving WHS outcomes.
- Support the development of communication strategies and events to promote WHS and injury management.
- Contribute to the development of legislation and standards for enhancing systematic management of WHS within priority industries and hazard areas.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to create collaborations and partnership opportunities.
- Contribute to evaluation frameworks to report on strategy, programs and initiatives.
- Provide advice to ISP and AFS management on targeted industries' WHS performance and issues.
- Model professional and ethical behaviour and act in accordance with the Queensland Public Service legislative framework and Code of Conduct.
