Principal Executive Officer

The purpose of this position is to provide strategic and operational support to the Manager, the Deputy Director-General and Executive Directors including ongoing coordination of the Division’s correspondence, briefing, advice and ad hoc matters that occur in the day-to-day operations of the division.
You will have extensive experience in provision of high-level specialist support, coordination, preparation, and management of comprehensive and timely responses from the department to the Minister on a range of sensitive departmental functions. You will have experience in provision of support in relation to Cabinet and Parliamentary requirements.

As a Principal Executive Officer you will:
- Lead and coordinate input into a high volume of correspondence effectively and efficiently in and out of the Division including discussion papers, briefs and media items.
- Manage and co-ordinate briefing material on behalf of the Deputy Director General and Executive Directors for consideration by the Minister and the Director-General, as well as the flow of information between areas of the department and other departments to ensure quality and accurate advice is provided.
- Provide an advisory and quality control support to staff on the preparation of briefings to the Director-General and Ministerial Office to ensure compliance with relevant departmental and government-wide guidelines and procedures.
- Lead the continuous review of administrative systems and implement improvements, including supporting staff in understanding their obligations.
- Critically analyse a range of complex information and provide high level advice to decision-makers to ensure alignment with organisational goals and priorities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders through collaboration and provide ongoing guidance to staff to support professional growth.
Your ability to stay informed of current matters, analyse information, influence, problem solve, and co-ordinate workflow is essential to your success in this role.
Your Mandatory Requirements:
- National Disability Worker Screening Clearance is a mandatory requirement for this role. The successful applicant will be supported to obtain this if they do not have a valid clearance
