Are you passionate about database security and performance? Join QBCC as a Senior Platform Engineer, where you’ll play a key role in safeguarding the integrity of our database systems. In this role, you'll design and implement reliable backup solutions, optimise system performance, conduct capacity planning, and proactively monitor infrastructure health. Key Outcomes and Accountabilities

  • Database Security Design and Development: Design, develop, and implement database solutions that prioritise security, ensuring that all systems are resilient against potential cyber threats while meeting the organisation's requirements.
  • Performance and Security Optimisation: Identify and mitigate performance bottlenecks in database systems while ensuring that security protocols do not compromise system efficiency, thereby maintaining both speed and data protection.
  • Robust Data Security Implementation: Establish and enforce stringent security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorised access or breaches, adhering to compliance standards and best practices in cybersecurity.

Candidate Attributes

  1. Expertise in SQL clustering, AWS RDS, and Oracle database technologies, with a strong focus on implementing security best practices and compliance standards.
  2. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate database management tasks while enhancing security measures through scripts.
  3. Strong knowledge of data warehousing solutions and secure integration practices with business systems or cloud platforms, emphasising data protection.
  4. Broad understanding of AWS, Azure, and M365 ecosystems to provide secondary support to other team members.
  5. Familiarity with cyber security principles and best practices related to database and data warehouse solutions, including risk management and incident response.
  6. Ability to assess and implement security measures like encryption, access controls, and vulnerability assessments to protect sensitive data.
  7. Experience with database migration and integration projects, focusing on maintaining security throughout cloud and hybrid deployments.
  8. Knowledge of database performance monitoring and tuning tools with a focus on security implications, ensuring optimised performance without compromising security.
  9. Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex database security issues, including potential vulnerabilities and threats.
  10. Ability to stay updated with evolving cyber security threats and trends in database and data warehousing domains.
