In conjunction with the Manager, Quality, Monitoring and Audit Readiness, the Principal Program Officer will lead a program of work focused on improving outcomes for participants in Supported Independent Living Arrangements. This includes developing and implementing a three-year rolling internal audit schedule aligned with NDIS quality and safeguarding requirements.

As a Principal Program Officer, Internal Review you will:

  • Develop, coordinate and undertake quality assurance day-to-day activities, including Internal Reviews with outcomes that support the department's capacity to deliver and maintain quality services as well as meet operational and strategic outcomes.
  • Effectively undertake quality assurance activities within a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment, particularly in relation to supports provided in accordance with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Disability Supports for Older Australians (DSOA) Program.
  • Prepare a range of written materials including reports, briefing material, training resources and information papers to communicate findings, share learnings and seek operational direction.
  • Contribute to the department's governance systems and continuous improvement activities to safeguard participants accessing SIL services.
  • Provide high-level advice in relation to the provision of services and NDIS initiatives using information from a wide range of sources. This may include attendance at meetings, delivering information sessions or answering enquires.
  • Facilitate effective communication and influence with key internal and external stakeholders, through lessons learned, feedback mechanisms and management of expectations.
  • Provide support and guidance to service areas, anticipating and addressing challenges and opportunities that facilitate high performing teams and great quality outcomes for participants. 
  • Build a collaborative and inclusive culture, promote ethical behaviour, supporting staff wellbeing and professional growth.
